President Elect
Michael Hoffman
"As president Elect, it is my goal to move the profession of Army Dentistry forward through continuing education, professional development, and advocacy. I served in many capacities as a 63A and 63B in educational, garrison, and operational environments. I understand the challenges and opportunities presented to our junior officers serving in these areas.
First, as professionals we are tasked with being continual learners. I am excited about the continuing education platform the Army AGD is developing and hope to continue evolving it to meet the needs of dental Officers at every point in their careers. I specifically want to assist members in achieving Fellowship and Mastership in the AGD. Second, I believe developing as leaders is as important to us as developing as clinicians. I want to open our organization to more junior officers to provide opportunities to seek mentorship and leadership positions within the organization. Finally, a professional organization that advocates for itself benefits the entire dental profession. The AGD is a strong advocate for general dentists ensuring the needs of our profession are met. As president elect, I want to represent the views and needs of general dentists within the Army to our National organization. I also want to involve more junior officers in the AGD governance process so they can be exposed to the issues facing general dentists both in private practice and in our sister services.
There are numerous opportunities as a member of the Army AGD to develop as a leader and professional. I appreciate the many experiences Army AGD provided to aid my professional growth. As President-Elect, I will work to leverage these opportunities for others to benefit both individual members and Army Dentistry as a whole. "
Secretary
Joel Doucette
Dr. Doucette is passionate about providing patient centered, operationally focused oral health care to military members. Furthermore, he recognizes the critical importance of clinical mentorship for junior dental officers and patient education. Both of these are dependent on quality continuing education to keep up to date on dental technology and treatment guidelines. Dr. Doucette also understands the importance of the Army Constituency within the AGD and how this partnership is vital to advocacy for both the profession as well as Federal Services Dental Corps. Dr. Doucette looks forward to the continued opportunity to serve within the Army Constituency of Region 17 and to further advance its recent initiatives by serving as Secretary for another term.
Nicholas D Wilson
"I believe I am a great candidate for the Secretary position in the Army AGD due to my history in leadership roles and experience in organized dentistry. I am passionate about continuing education and strive to reach 100 hours of CE per year and always encourage those I lead to do the same. Through leading the Army Dental Sleep Medicine initiative, I am well versed in organizing events and have led multiple courses which have awarded over 6,000 hours of continuing education credits. I look forward to the opportunity to help lead the Army AGD through the challenges of a pandemic and utilize various platforms to train all constituents. "
